April

“Drip drip drop little April showers.” April is the month when spring gets going properly. But beware the yo-yo weather of blistering sun one minute and raining cats and dogs the next! April weather likes to test you so be aware of the game you are playing. A dry April can cause havoc for your spring bulbs next year, tulips and daffodils NEED to regain nutrients and energy for the following year. A good way to think about this, is that while your spring bulbs are flowering they are also recharging their batteries for next year's display. Without enough water- it will be insufficient. The second weather test comes from those late April frosts that ruin apple and other fruit blossoms causing them to die before setting up for fruit, as well as damaging seedlings that are hardening off.
